The Paint Shed recommends

A fast-drying, dependable primer and undercoat in one.

Johnstone's Trade Joncryl Water Based Primer Undercoat is an acrylic resin-based primer and undercoat in one. Suitable for use on interior wood, hardboard, cement, plaster and brick, it has a high opacity formula that provides excellent cover and obliteration levels. Thanks to its water-based nature, it is low in VOC and odour and dries quickly too.

A great high opacity alternative to traditional solvent-based undercoats or primers, it offers brilliant coverage and is easy to apply.
