Do I have to be a tradesperson to buy from The Paint Shed?
Anyone can shop with us. We do offer specialist services for trade customers, but you don't need to be a tradesperson to shop with us. 

Customer support

My order is missing an item, what should I do?
if you have received all of your parcels, but an item is still missing, please allow for up to 10 working days first and then contact us with the order and product details so that we can investigate further.

If you have collected your order in store and some products are missing, please return to the store for assistance.

When will I receive my order confirmation email?
Soon after you place your order, we will send you an order confirmation email. You will then receive a dispatch email once the item has left the warehouse Any issues, contact us

Can I have a VAT invoice?

You will receive an automatic VAT invoice from us, plese check your spam folder after 2 days.

I'm ordering a high quantity of an item, can I get a discount?
Yes, we offer up to 15% off if you are buying in bulk. For full details on bulk buy discounts and how to qualify, please click here.

Can you match designer paints?

Yes, we can do an equivalent match on any colour, it is not exact but it's as close to it as you can get!

The item I want is out of stock, when will it be back in?
We aim to replenish out of stock items within 2-3 weeks, however, this timescale may be extended depending on the product and supply. As soon as replenishment stock is received our website and systems will be updated accordingly.

Can I amend my order?
Once you’ve placed an order, your order is sent to process for delivery within 24 hours.  Contact us and we'll try our best to help.

How can I pay my credit account?

Painting

Can the colour of the paint look different from the shade card?
For a true representation of the colour, we would recommend applying at least two coats. Please ensure you stir the paint to mix the colour and apply this to piece of card or paper and allow this to fully dry.

Why does eggshell dry like gloss?
Eggshell can take up to 14 days for the vapours to fully evaporate for a satin finish.

Can a dent in the tin affect the paint?
If there is no leakage, the paint should be fine to use and store.

How can I avoid paint coming off the surface once it has dried?
For best results, we always recommended following the product instructions to make sure you have prepared the surface appropriately. Usually sanding, cleaning or/and primer is required before painting.

How can I avoid paint becoming too runny?
Avoid applying thick coats of paint or applying too much thinner/solvent can affect the consistency of the remaining paint.

Why do stains appear on the wall after applying the paint?
Stains can occur when the water in the emulsion activates impurities in a wall.

What can cause paint to flake?
If the surface is too small because it has not been keyed, this can cause flaking.

How can I ensure the colour underneath does not show after applying paint?
As some colours require a lot of tint this can cause the paint to become almost translucent, to prevent this we would recommend applying undercoat first.

How can I prevent blisters in the paint?
Water trapped under the paint emerges can cause blistering. To prevent this, we recommend ensuring the surface is completely dry before applying paint.

Why does the paint look like an orange peel?
This can happen if you use incompatible paints have been applied and the top layer breaks up because it expands at a different rate than the one below.
