Customer Questions
can this be painted on a stone fire surround?

If you are painting a working fireplace, we don't recommend that you use Farrow & Ball Dead Flat to paint the surround. Always use heat resistant paint for this surface.

Can you use dead flat repainting wooden kitchen cabinets?

We wouldn't recommend using Farrow and Ball Dead Flat on kitchen cabinetry as it's designed for low-traffic areas. Instead, try Farrow and Ball Estate Eggshell which is often used for kitchen cabinets and provides a low sheen, matt finish that is more resilient than Dead Flat.

i used farrow ball slipper satin modern emulsion last time but have a lot of roller marks would dead flat slipper satin be same colour mix could you sell me a sample pot
Farrow and Ball sample pots are only available in estate emulsion but the colour will be the same across all their different finishes, it's just the sheen level that would change. Roller marks could be caused by the type of roller used to apply the Modern Emulsion. If applying to an interior wall a short/medium pile roller is best suited.
I’m going to be painting dead flat over modern emulsion and modern eggshell. Do I need a primer? It will be inchyra going over Treron.

We would recommend 1 coat of Interior Wall and Ceiling Undercoat before applying Dead Flat for best results.

Can I have a bit more information on the key features and benefits of Dead Flat by Farrow and Ball?

We have put an article together which includes more detail around the Dead Flat Finish by Farrow and Ball, read the full introduction to Dead Flat

Yes, You can apply the Farrow and Ball Dead Flat to use on a radiator.
Can dead flat be used in a bathroom
No, The Farrow and Ball Dead Flat is not suitable for Bathrooms
Can dead flat be used on kitchen walls and ceilings?
No, We do not recommend applying Farrow and Ball Dead Flat in kitchen's as it's designed for low-traffic areas.
Is there a paint for PVC

Yes, The Farrow and Ball Dead Flat can be applied on PVC however we do recommend using a Zinsser Bulls eye Primer.

How does Farrow & Ball Dead Flat compare to Estate Emulsion?
Farrow & Ball Dead Flat offers a new and improved formula - it is multi-surface and offers a scrubbable, scuff-resistant finish so you can clean this paint without compromising your finish or paint colour. In contrast to Estate Emulsion, which can only be wiped clean and doesn't provide the enhanced durability that Dead Flat does from a scrubbable finish. In addition, Estate Emulsion is not multi-surface and is mainly suited to interior walls and ceilings.
