Jotun Visir Primer is a water-based exterior wood primer that contains effective film-conserving agents that counteract mould growth and black mould. It forms a water-repellant barrier, binds loose wood fibres and provides a good surface for Demidekk high-performance paints such as Demidekk Ultimate and Demidekk Infinity. It will significantly improve the adhesion and long term protection of the applied top coat.

Ideal as a softwood primer for most exterior wood including doors, windows, decking, log cabins, sheds, fencing and cladding to prolong the protection and durability of the chosen top coat.

Applying Jotun Visir Primer Pigmented

Easy to apply by brush or roller along the grain of the wood. Jotun Visir Primer can be applied wet on wet to penetrate the wood surfaces. Any excess primer should be brushed out to prevent the forming a surplus film. It may also be used on sawn and planed woods. Coverage is approximately 4-7 sq metres per litre on sawn wood and 9-11 sq metres per litre on planed wood.

Customer Questions
If using Visir primer and then Demidekk Ultimate on a new, softwood, log cabin, do I also have to use a wood preserver first?

To achieve full protection we would highly recommend 1 coat of Jotun Visir Clear primer followed by 3 top coats of Demidekk Ultimate when painting a new softwood log cabin, preserver shouldn't be required. If there are any visible sawn ends we recommend that for every 1 top coat, 3 should be applied to the sawn ends making 9 coats on these for full protection.

We’re getting a log cabin soon, and we just want to leave it a natural colour, so just wondering what you would recommend for sealing it.

We would recommend either a wood preserver or a clear Yacht Varnish if you are looking to protect the cabin without adding colour.

How many windows and doors are there in the area you want to paint?

This is based on a coverage of 10m² per litre of paint and one coat of paint.

Make sure you always check the coverage on the product page before purchasing and, if covering a dark or bright colour, you may need two or three coats.
