Osmo Polyx-Oil Tints are transparent, satin wood finishes that uniquely combine the advantages of natural oils and waxes in one product. Osmo Polyx®-Oil Tints is stain-resistant, water repellent and abrasion-resistant. Ideal for the protection and decorative finishing of all wooden floors, such as solid wood, plank, strip, OSB and cork flooring, as well as furniture surfaces though it is only recommended for lightly coloured wood species.

In comparison to conventional finishes, the use of plant based ingredients creates a more even colour and with no need to sand or prime before applying, this is an easy to use woodstain that won’t crack, peel or blister as a result of the microporous surface it creates.

Preparation and Application of Osmo Polyx-Oil Tints

For best results, we recommend that your wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 18%). Osmo Polyx®-Oil Tints is ready to use which means there is no need to thin, simply stir with a flat stirring stick or spatula and ensure all old microporous stains have been cleaned thoroughly as well as any old paints and lacquers removed. Fill small cracks, larger joints or holes in  the wood with Osmo Wood Filler.

For ease of application, we recommend the Osmo Flat Brush, Microfibre Roller, Oil Finish Applicator Fleece (with Hand Pad Holder) or Floor Brush. For each of the different tints, please see below information.

Transparent colour: Apply thinly and evenly to the clean and dry wood along the wood grain and spread well. Allow to dry for approx. 24 hours under good ventilation. If a stronger colour intensity is desired, repeat the process (however maximum two coats).

Lightly stained effect: Within 20 minutes after application, wipe away product along the wood grain with a cloth or white pad. Allow to dry for approx. 24 hours under good ventilation.

Intensive colour: For this application, we recommend Osmo Wood Wax Finish or Osmo Oil Stain.

Please note you should apply a maximum of one coat of Polyx®-Oil Tints or Oil Stain to flooring. After thoroughly drying, a top coat with a clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil is to be carried out.

How many windows and doors are there in the area you want to paint?

This is based on a coverage of 10m² per litre of paint and one coat of paint.

Make sure you always check the coverage on the product page before purchasing and, if covering a dark or bright colour, you may need two or three coats.
