The Paint Shed recommends

Self-priming and perfect for adding solid colour to any exterior wood, metal, masonry, plastics and concrete.

Sadolin Superdec Satin is a water based, highly durable opaque finish wood protection for cladding and exterior joinery. A flexible coating that resists cracking, peeling and flaking, it is an easy to apply tinted coating that brings weathered or uneven surfaces back to life and adds colour to brand new surfaces.

It is self-priming and works as an undercoat, so there’s usually no need to get a separate product. It can be applied to new and previously painted or stained surfaces. Depending on how liberal you are with the stain, you can average between 10-15 sq. m per litre. If you’re opting for one of the lighter tones, especially anything off white, it is advisable to use a blocking primer to prevent discolouration.

Applying Sadolin Superdec

Sadolin Superdec should be applied in a full flowing coat ensuring all surfaces and end grains are fully coated. For best results use a good quality brush to apply 2 coats paying special attention to end grain, tops and bottoms of doors, and undersides of sills. Allow a minimum of 16-24 hours drying between coats.

Customer Questions
Can you supply tester pots as difficult to choose colour

To test a Sadolin Superdec colour select the 250ml size on the Sadolin Superdec Satin Tinted Colours page. We hope you find the perfect colour.

Can I paint superdec wild grape over its current colour cloverleaf ? Or will the colour be distorted, and not true to colour
You should be okay to paint Wild Grape over Cloverleaf as you are going darker in colour and Superdec has a high opacity. We recommend two full coats and if there is any sign of the previous colour apply a final third coat.
Is it ok used over weatherd wood cladding will I need a primer?

We recommend that you prime first with Crown Trade PX4 for best results.

Can I paint upvc window frame with this paint.

We wouldn't recommend using Sadolin Superdec on uPVC surfaces as it is designed specifically for exterior wood, joinery and cladding. We offer a range of recommended uPVC paints here that would be better suited for the job.

I have already used barrettine preserver primer on my log cabin, which says it's an oil based primer but you can too coat with oil or water based products. Will superdec be okay over this product?
Yes, Sadolin Superdec can be applied but we recommend that you sand the surface first.
What percentage sheen does Superdec satin have please?
Sadolin don't provide a sheen percentage for Superdec satin but it is a low sheen satin finish.
CAN YOU USE THIS ON NEW DECKING?

We wouldn't recommend Sadolin Superdec for decking, try Sadolin Beautiflex instead as this is designed for use on decking among other surfaces. The microporous formulation works and flexes with the surface, resisting cracking, peeling and flaking, which in turn provides long-lasting protection for up to 7 years. It offers a solid colour finish with high opacity, strong colour retention, and superior weather resistance, particularly to UV and water. It is a highly durable and easy to apply decking protection solution.

Need to re-stain exterior timber cladding to Scandanavian style detached house. Previously used Sadolin Extra Rosewood, (7 years ago). It is not possible, viable or practicable to "sand" existing cladding prior to restaining! What would you recommend please?
Where not possible to sand the surface to create a key, we would recommend applying the same product, Sadolin Extra, although we can't guarantee the longevity of the coating in this circumstance.
Is Sadoli Superdec suitable for a cupboard inside the bathroom?

You can use Sadolin Superdec for bathroom cupboards but please note if these are made from laminate or any kind of glossy material, please prime first with something like Bullseye 1-2-3 for adhesion.

Is Sadolin Superdec water based?
Yes, Sadolin Superdec is a water-based product.
Can you use this product on wooden shutters on a house in france? They were painted with Sadolin some years ago (brown wood stain) but I am looking for a wood paint which will last but give me a bigger choice of colour.

Sadolin Superdec is suitable for exterior wooden shutters, it provides a flexible, tough coating and can be colour matched into hundreds of colours including RAL and BSC. You might also want to consider Demidekk Infinity which is a high-performance Scandinavian wood paint with excellent colour and gloss retention, providing long-lasting protection for up to 12 years.

Can you mix superdec into farrow and ball colours? Preference Red
We can colour match Sadolin Superdec to almost any colour including Farrow and Ball. Simply enter the colour name and brand for example, Farrow and Ball Preference Red into the shade finder on the product page before selecting your size and adding it to your basket.
Had patchy previous ranch paint and untreated wood where that had started to peel painted with two coats of sandolin opaque in walnut. Problem since with windows very difficult to open even when they have been treated with something other than sanding?
We would recommend using a silicone-based lubricant like WD40 to ease the opening of the windows.
Can I use sadolin superdec on interior wood
Yes, you can use Sadolin Superdec on interior wood.
I am having exterior doors and window frames painted. Is there a Sadolin Opaque satin to match RAL 7021. This is the present colour. The paint is worn from some sills. Do they need priming before painting as some of the Sadolin paints are self priming?
Sadolin Superdec is self-priming so there is no need for a separate primer here but we recommend that you gently sand to create a key. We can tint Sadolin Superdec to RAL 7021, simply enter the colour code into the colour finder on the product page before adding it to the online basket.

How many windows and doors are there in the area you want to paint?

This is based on a coverage of 10m² per litre of paint and one coat of paint.

Make sure you always check the coverage on the product page before purchasing and, if covering a dark or bright colour, you may need two or three coats.
