Cuprinol Wood Preserver Clear is an oil-based wood preservative treatment for interior and exterior timber that prevents insect attack, rot and decay.
Applying Cuprinol Wood Preserver Clear
We recommend applying two coats along the wood grain using a brush to clean, dry surfaces before painting or varnishing. Before application remove excessive dirt and soiling, large areas of algae, lichen or fungi using an appropriate fungicidal wash or cleaner designed for the job. Wood that has been wood-stained, painted or vanished should be stripped back to bare wood and treated as bare wood.
Leave the first coat to soak in before applying the second but reapply before the first is fully dry (typically 2-6 hours). Leave 16 hours for the second coat to dry before painting, staining or vanishing. Do not spray.
I have a new shed that I wish to paint using Cuprinol garden shades, which product is recommended to use as a wood preserver before painting please?
We would recommend using Gori 11 Wood Preserver before painting with Cuprinol Garden Shades.
Is Cuprinol Wood Preserver suitable to protect a hardwood bench?
Yes, you can use Cuprinol Wood Preserver to protect a hardwood bench. For best results, wash with meths and allow to air dry before applying.
Is this the oil based or water based version? The product details says oil, but the description says water based.
The Cuprinol Wood Preserver Clear is oil based
Does "Cuprinol Wood Preserver Clear 1l" contain any metals? I need a metal-free wood preservative (termites and moisture are my main worries) to protect the yellow pine purlins (ie, horizontal firring strips/stringers) to which I will directly fasten my galvanized steel roof panels on a rustic open air shed on humid, termite prone south Florida. I was told Pressure treated wood would void the warranty on my metal roof panels, because it contains copper which can interact corrosively with the metal roof. Cuprinol would be great IF and only if, it does not use a metal based preservative. Thank you!
No, The Cuprinol Wood Preserver Clear does not contain any Metal Preservatives.
