Garden Furniture Paint

Painting garden furniture isn't easy thats why we've put together the tips below, or you can read more about how to paint garden furniture in more detail over on our blog:

1. Prepare your area, making sure you have enough space and remove any items, this will help avoid getting paint on any unwanted areas/items.
2. Place your furniture on top of a large dust sheet or old newspapers/bedding you have available - this will help protect the floor.
3. Repair any areas by removing any damaged wood, or fill any holes/cracks with exterior wood filler. 
4. Wash your wood down with warm soapy water and allow this to dry thoroughly. 
5. Sand your furniture carefully, removing any flaking paint, old paint drips or similar. Follow this up with a finer paper such as 180-grit, paying close attention to crevices. 
6. Remove any unwanted dust from the sanding process with a rag or dry cloth/tea towel.
7. Apply exterior primer and leave this to dry for around 8 hours 
8. Grab a small brush, or roller and begin applying your paint in your chosen colour. Remember - when painting wood several thin coats are better than one thick coat. Let the first coat dry fully before applying your next coat.
