It provides a mid-sheen satin finish with good opacity and is a microporous coating designed to protect from water and reduce blistering, cracking and peeling. It also resists UV attack prolonging the longevity of the coating once applied. it is best suited for use on rough-sawn timber surfaces such as fences, gates and cladding but can also be used on smooth planed surfaces.

Applying Johnstone's Trade Woodworks Opaque Wood Finish

For best results apply 2 coats using a brush or roller to a clean, dry surface. It offers brilliant coverage of up to 12m2 per litre so a little goes a long way.

Customer Questions
How long does Johnstones stain last for
The Johnstone's Trade Woodworks Opaque Wood Finish would normally last around 6 years However this does depend on on how the surface is prepared and also the elements the surface is exposed to.
Can you put it on bare wood?
Yes, The Johnstone's Trade Woodworks Opaque Wood Finish can be applied to Bare Wood.
Hi, is that product a satin finish?
Yes, The Johnstone's Trade Woodworks Opaque Wood Finish provides a satin finish
Is Johnston Woodworks opaque a stain or paint?

Yes, Johnstone's Trade Woodworks Opaque Wood Finish Tinted Colours is a paint, however this product is available in a stain.

Can it be used over pre decorated timber sheds
Yes, For maximum performance, old paint or varnish should be completely removed. However, if the surface is smooth and not flaking you should be able to give the surface a light key and then use the Johnstone's Trade Woodworks Opaque Wood Finish
Does this paint need an undercoat / primer?
No, This can be applied directly onto the surface. However If applying to a previously painted surface, sand this back before applying 1 coat of clear wood preserver first.
Can I lpaint over it

Johnstone's Trade Woodworks Opaque Wood Finish would need to be sanded for the fibres to be raised which should allow for the paint to adhere. However we would advise that a primer such as Zinsser Bullseye 123 is used to provide better adhesion as well as a smoother finish.

Can I use this in a paint sprayer?
Johnstones advise that this product is best applied when using a brush or roller.
