What's even better, some of our paints will allow you to enjoy a brilliant finish for 6 years or longer without the need for any additional touch ups, saving you time and money long-term. For example, Dulux Trade Weathershield Quick Drying Exterior Satin or Sadolin Superdec which offers up to 10 years protection. If you are having issues with paint peeling off your garage door we recommend you follow these steps prior to applying a fresh new coat of paint:
- Use a scraper or sandpaper to remove the existing paint off the surface, taking this back to the original garage door will help to ensure the new paint you apply will correctly adhere and not run the risk of flaking again due to being painted on top of an existing layer of paint
- Once you have finished scraping old paint off your garage door, use a power washer or a hose to rinse off the door and remove dust and debris. If using a power washer, maintain a safe distance to avoid damaging the door.
- Once your door has dried, your door is ready to paint. For best results, choose a high quality garage door paint and apply a minimum of 2 coats so you can enjoy long-term durability benefits of your chosen paint.
If you're also looking to paint the garage floor and doing an overall update to your garage, we also offer garage floor paints perfect for low, medium to high footfall so you don't need to look much any further for your paint than the one stop shop that is The Paint Shed!
