We do not recommend hiding the problem of mould by painting over it. Firstly, you need to work out what is causing the mould, if left untreated and covered up with paint the mould will regrow, working its way through walls and ceilings and through coatings of paint and you will be back where you started. Always find and resolve the mould problem first, once this has been resolved we recommended treating and cleaning the surface thoroughly. Then prepare your surface to remove any loose material with a scraper or stiff-bristled brushes. Following this, seal and prime the surface, this can help to prevent anything penetrating through the walls. Finally, apply your chosen anti mould paint. One of our most recommended anti mould paints would be Polycell One Coat Damp Seal.
No, we do not recommend this. If you have not found the cause of the mould and resolved this, then the mould will very quickly penetrate through your new coat of anti-mould paint. As such, we strongly advise resolving the cause of mould in the first instance, scrubbing your surface, prepping, priming and painting using anti-mould paint for the best results.
