Johnstone's Trade Joncryl Water Based Primer Undercoat is an acrylic resin-based primer and undercoat in one. Suitable for use on interior wood, hardboard, cement, plaster and brick, it has a high opacity formula that provides excellent cover and obliteration levels. Thanks to its water-based nature, it is low in VOC and odour and dries quickly too.

A great high opacity alternative to traditional solvent-based undercoats or primers, it offers brilliant coverage and is easy to apply.

Applying Johnstone's Trade Joncryl Water Based Primer Undercoat

Customer Questions
Can I do 2 coats of Joncryl primer undercoat and then my final paint layer or should I use an undercoat after the primer, before the final paint coat?
Johnstone's Trade Joncryl Water Based Primer Undercoat is a primer and undercoat in one so we recommend applying 1-2 coats of Joncryl before applying 2 coats of your chosen topcoat.
Can I apply Joncryl primer to sanded down already painted surfaces or, should I use an undercoat and just use primer on bare surfaces?
Johnstone's Trade Joncryl Water Based Primer Undercoat can be applied to sanded down, previously painted surfaces. It is a primer and undercoat in one, so there is no need for separate products.
Can I use Joncrylprimer undercoat over wood previously painted with oil-based satin paint?
Yes, Johnstone's Trade Joncryl Water-Based Primer Undercoat can be applied over previous paint including oil-based paints. Simply create a key by very gently sanding the surface before application.

How many windows and doors are there in the area you want to paint?

This is based on a coverage of 10m² per litre of paint and one coat of paint.

Make sure you always check the coverage on the product page before purchasing and, if covering a dark or bright colour, you may need two or three coats.
