It’s quite rare to find a paint range that is modelled after one of the UK’s most famous museums. But that is precisely what you’ll find when you choose to buy Victoria & Albert paint.

A dynamic range that leans heavily on neutral eggshell and matt finishes, if you are looking for a premium paint for use indoors and outside, the V&A paint range may be just what you need. These water-based paints have a quality that should see you painting a wall with just two coats.

The Paint Shed has a small range of their paints in stocks, in finishes we think look fantastic. Shop the range and see if the right paint is here for you.

What is Victoria & Albert Paint?

Victoria & Albert paint is a range which takes influence from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The range mainly focusses on neutral and lighter tones for interior spaces but is also known for some very lustrous colours (a prime example of this would be the 2.5L Gold Eggshell).

Depending on what we have in stock, paint types will vary, but the four most common paints V&A provide include:

  • Matt Emulsion
  • Eggshell
  • Masonry
  • Primer Undercoat

Most of their paints are adaptable for use outside, but if you are buying paint solely for outdoors use, we do recommend visiting our specialist paint section.

Why Victoria & Albert Paint?

You may notice when opening a tin of Victoria & Albert paint that it looks quite thick. This is actually a chance to get more bang for your buck, as the manufacturers state the paint can be thinned up to 10% with some cold water; ideal if you need a little extra to help get the job finished.

Victoria & Albert paints also have a quick dry time of around 4 hours, with quite a good recoat turnaround for different paint types:

  • Matt Emulsion – 4 to 6 hours recoat time
  • Eggshell – 6 to 8 hours recoat time
  • Chalk -  4 to 6 hours recoat time
  • Masonry – 6 to 8 hours recoat time

We also like V&A paint too due to how well it performs in high traffic areas. If you’ve been looking for a good looking and durable paint for the hallway, kitchen, or any room which sees people scuff against the wall, a reliable Matt may be the way to go. If you’re looking for a heavy-duty paint, we recommend checking out our emulsion trade paints, with some fantastic deals from Dulux, Johnstone’s and Crown.

Getting Ready to Paint

One thing we always feel is important to remind customers, before heading to checkout, is making sure that you have everything you need to paint without any problems.

As many people purchase Victoria & Albert paint for their interiors, keeping rooms and furniture free of paint where you don’t want it is crucial. Visit our cleaning & prep page to get dust covers, white spirit and anything else you need to get the room ready, especially if you’re going to match a bold colour with bright white skirting boards.

If it is your first time using high-quality paint like this in a room you’ve never painted before, follow our how to paint guides as a means to prepare correctly and get the most out of your paint.
