A Guide To Using Metal Paint
Painting on metal can be tricky when compared to other surfaces. It takes a lot of prep and a certain level of skill to get it right. That said, with the right information a flawless finish is within your reach. Follow this simple step by step guide for painting perfection. The first step and perhaps the most important is ensure your surface is thoroughly cleaned. Browse through our selection of cleaning products in our ‘Tools’ section to find one suited to your surface. Ensure your surface is dry and free from dust or grease before you begin painting. Rub your area down with abrasive paper which can also be found again in our ‘Tools’ section, this will help remove any rust or obstructions to your paint job and provide a firm and even base for your paint to adhere to. If painting onto bare metal, a specialist primer or undercoat should be applied where needed. We have options available from Armstead and Johnstone’s for all requirements. Allow to dry before applying the paint. Stir your paint thoroughly before use and apply a minimum of two coats for maximum results.
