RUST-OLEUM® CombiColor Metal 7300/7400 coating is primer and topcoat in one, based on a urethane modified alkyd, providing good drying properties at low temperatures. The product contains rust-inhibitive pigments and is lead- and chromate free.
I have some very rusty iron gates and need to repaint them. Assuming I wire brush off all the flakey paint and rust, can I use this product over the bare metal, old paint and rust? or does it all have to be back to bare metal?
We would recommend using a wire brush to remove as much rust as possible as well as any flaking, peeling or blistering paint. From there, you can apply Rust-Oleum Combicolor Gloss directly over rust, bare metal or the previous paint coating if it is sound. Rust-Oleum Combicolor Gloss is a primer and paint in one so will have good adhesion to any of the surfaces mentioned.
is this aint ok for cars
No, The Rust-Oleum Combicolor Gloss Black is not suitable for cars.
Can this be used on hardwood windows
No, this is more suitable for metal. We would advise using a Johnstone's professional gloss if you wish to have a gloss finish or you can use Sadolin Superdec Opaque Satin.
This is based on a coverage of 10m² per litre of paint and one coat of paint.
Make sure you always check the coverage on the product page before purchasing and, if covering a dark or bright colour, you may need two or three coats.
