Sikkens Cetol HLS Plus is a premium, solvent-based wood stain designed to protect and enhance the natural character of exterior softwood and hardwood. Ideal for surfaces such as cladding, doors, windows, fences, and garden furniture, this translucent coating provides long-lasting protection while allowing the wood grain to remain visible.
Flexible and microporous, Cetol HLS Plus moves with the wood and allows moisture vapour to escape, reducing the risk of cracking, peeling, or blistering. It offers excellent UV resistance and water repellency, making it a reliable choice for timber exposed to the elements. It can be used as a standalone finish on surfaces like fencing and sheds or as a base coat under Sikkens Cetol Filter 7 Plus for added durability on windows and doors.
Preparation and Application
Ensure all timber is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or any surface build-up. Old coatings should be removed, and greyed or weathered wood should be sanded back to bare timber. Stir thoroughly before use.
Apply 2–3 coats with a high-quality brush, allowing suitable drying time between coats. On joinery, use Cetol HLS Plus as a base coat followed by a topcoat of Cetol Filter 7 Plus for enhanced durability and colour retention.
