    Johnstone's Trade Flortred is a solvent-based, semi-gloss floor paint with added polyurethane to provide increased durability and make the finish more hardwearing. Flortred is resistant to mild chemicals, water, oil and grease in areas subject to light and medium levels of traffic, such as walkways and is suitable for exterior use to highlight walkways, car park bays and other markings, but it is not suitable for use on large external areas. It can be used to cover large areas indoors and is available in thousands of colours including colour matching to designer shades, RAL and BSC - shop the Johnstone's Trade Flortred Tinted Colour Match variant. 

    Recoatable after 16-24 hours under normal conditions, and fully cured in seven days, this is a truly dependable floor paint.

    For best results apply using a brush or roller to a clean, dry surface. Allow for good ventilation throughout and leave overnight before recoating, usually between 16-24 hours later.

    Can this go straight onto chipboard flooring in the attic without acrylic primer

    You can apply Johnstone's Trade Flortred Floor Paint to wooden flooring without the need for a primer.

    Do I need to seal new concrete before I use this product?
    Yes, we recommend sealing the floor with a thinned coat of Johnstone's Trade Flortred Floor Paint before applying two full coats. For best results, thin the first coat by 10% using white spirits. Always keep the area being painted well ventilated.
    How many square metres does 5 litres cover per coat ?
    The Johnstone's Trade Flortred Floor Paint has a approx. Coverage of 11square meters per litre.
    What type of thinners do I need for this paint?
    The Johnstone's Trade Flortred Floor Paint requires White Spirit to Thin
    Is this suitable for exterior concrete steps?

    Yes, however Flortred has no anti slip properties, you can also add Johnstones Trade Anti Slip Additive. We would also advise Blackfriars or Teamac as alternatives.

    What’s the main difference between this paint and Johnson’s floors paint ? Which is better for living room wooden floor?
    The Johnstones floor paints are varnishes, whereas Flortred is solid paint colour. Flortred is resistant to mild chemicals, water, oil and grease in areas subject to light and medium levels of traffic, such as walkways and is suitable for exterior use to highlight walkways, car park bays and other markings. Flortred can be used on interior wood, however this is an oil based product and can take 16-24hrs before recoating.
