Johnstone’s Ultra Primer Sealer is a high-performance, quick-drying, alkali-resisting primer sealer formulated from a tough acrylic resin with stain-blocking properties. It primes and seals plaster, plasterboard, cement render, timber, bare masonry, interior stone and fibre cement boards, wood panelling, ceramic and glazed tiles, doors, trim, windows and any surface where excellent adhesion, fast drying, stain-blocking properties are needed.

Applying Johnstone's Trade Ultra Primer Sealer

For best results use a brush or airless spray to apply 1 coat to a clean, dry surface. If priming a bare surface or porous surface, apply a sealing coat thinned by up to 20% water before applying 1 full coat afterwards. Follow with your chosen topcoat.

Ultra Primer Sealer isn't recommended for PVC, we would recommend Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 instead.

Yes, you can use Johnstone's Trade Ultra Primer Sealer on pebbledash but if the surface is chalky we recommend using a stabilising solution first.
I need to paint a black wooden fence a lighter colour. The black paint used recently was a Wickes garden paint water base. Would this Johnson Ultra Sealer be OK to use as a blocker/primer before finishing with a Cuprinol natural stone garden shade?
Yes you could use Johnstone's Trade Ultra Primer Sealer to prepare the fence and then topcoat with Cuprinol Garden Shades. You may still need 2-3 coats for full coverage as it's going dark to light.
Can you spray this product?
Yes, The Johnstone's Trade Ultra Primer Sealer Brilliant White can be sprayed. We recommend that you follow the thinning guidelines either on the tin or on your sprayer.
Could I use this to prime a varnished wooden coffee table?
