Apply Demidekk Ultimate as a topcoat after priming for the highest level of protection against the elements. 

Jotun Visir Primer is a solvent-based exterior wood primer that contains effective film conserving agents that counteract mould growth and black mould. It forms a water-repellant barrier, binds loose wood fibres and provides a good surface for Demidekk high-performance paints such as Demidekk Ultimate and Demidekk Infinity. It will significantly improve the adhesion and long term protection of the applied top coat.

Ideal as an all-round primer on exterior wood including doors, windows, decking, log cabins, sheds, fencing and cladding to prolong the protection and durability of the chosen top coat. 

Applying Jotun Visir Primer Clear

Easy to apply by brush or roller along the grain of the wood. Jotun Visir Primer can be applied wet on wet to penetrate the wood surfaces. Any excess primer should be brushed out to prevent the forming a surplus film. 

Suitable for use on sawn and planed woods with just one thin coat required. Coverage is approximately 4-7 sq metres per litre on sawn wood and 9-11 sq metres per litre on planed wood.

Is one coat of this primer sufficient before applying demidekk ultimate paint on top? I am planning for a log cabin summerhouse, the wood is untreated, do I need to treat the inside with the same primer. Thanks for your help.

Yes, we recommend 1 coat of primer and 3 top coats of Demidekk Ultimate. If using the same again on the interior, repeat the process. If there are any sawn ends visible we recommend that for for every 1 top coat,  3 should be applied to the sawn ends making 9 coats on these for full protection.

How to you clan the paint brush after using Visir

If using Jotun Visir Klar (clear) we recommend cleaning your brush with white spirit and if using Jotun Visir Pigmented, we recommend using water.

Is it ok to dip the ends of new timber in to Jotun Visir if you can instead of applying with a brush?
You can dip the ends instead of using a brush to apply but dipping uses more of the Visir than is required so it isn't the most economical way to apply.
How long must you leave the Jotun Visir to dry before applying the Demidekk paint?
We recommend waiting 24-48 hours for Visir Primer to dry before painting it over with Demidekk.
Is it necessary to apply this primer (Visir) to unknown previous paint preservation coating prior to using Demidekk Infinity?
No, if the previous coating is sound and not flaking or peeling, sand gently to create a key and then apply Demidekk Infinity straight to the surface.
How long do you wait between coats if you are giving bare wood a second coat of this primer?
We would recommend waiting 24-48 hours before applying a second coat although it will be touch dry after 8 hours.
Can you use Jotun Visir primer cleat on the inside of a log cabin? Would it stop the pine on the inside of the log cabin discolouring if it is exposed to a lot of sun?

You can apply Jotun Visir internally but it doesn't offer UV protection, you'd need to apply a separate topcoat for this like Demidekk Ultimate.

Will Visir Primer Clear adhere to wood previously treated with Butinox 2 oil based opaque finish that has been sanded, but not back to bare wood. Then apply Demi Dekk ultimate onto primer, will this application be successful.
The Jotun Visir Primer Clear should only be applied is the surface is bare wood
Can this be used on wet wood
No, We would not recommend the Jotun Visir Primer Clear to be applied to wet wood.
If it rains after 8 hours after I applying jotun visir will this impact the protection? Please ignore same question prevously asked as I put the wrong email address.
No, This should not impact the protection the primer offers, we would advise that you make sure the wood is fully dry before applying your top coat.
Should I sand after applying?
Yes Jotun do advise to give the primer a light sanding before the applying your top coat. The primer must be coated with the topcoat as soon as possible and no later than 1 month.
Hi I coated some new marine ply in September last year, and due to the weather, I now want to finish of with my top coats, will I need to re-apply the primer
Yes you will need to reapply the primer as Jotun Visir Primer must be coated with the topcoat as soon as possible and no later than 1 month
Do I need to use knotting solution before applying jotun visir primer? Can you paint interior of cabin with vispir and then top coat of demidekk. I have been told not recommended as contains biocides and because its insulated. Its a lillivilla 44mm log cabin with insulation in roof and floor. Thank you
Yes knots should be treated before applying the Visir Primer. Demi-dekk can also be used on the interior as well as exterior as long as the area is well ventilated.
