Johnstone’s Trade Aqua Guard Primer Undercoat is an innovative, water-based primer and undercoat that is ideal for interior wood. It has excellent adhesion to previously painted surfaces and most porous substrates. When used over bare timber it prevents resins from staining through into the finish. It acts as the perfect
undercoat to the Johnstone’s Trade Aqua Guard Gloss, Satin or Matt finishes with excellent opacity and adhesion.

Applying Johnstone's Trade Aqua Guard Primer Undercoat

Johnstone's Trade Aqua Guard Primer Undercoat is touch dry in 1-2 hours and recoatable after 4-6 hours. Apply one coat using a brush, roller or spray.

Is there oil in this
No, The Johnstone's Trade Aqua Guard Primer Undercoat is a water based product.
Do i need to use knot block before, if I'm using Johnstone's Aqua Guard Primer Undercoat Brilliant White?
We would advise using a knotting solution to the affected areas before applying the Johnstone's Trade Aqua Guard Primer Undercoat.
Looking for undercoat paint to cover the old glossy paint on the walls so that l can apply emulsion paint over it.

Johnstone's Trade Aqua Guard Primer Undercoat Brilliant White is only suitable for interior wood and metal. We would advise using Zinsser Bulls 123 Eye Primer before applying your top coat.

Is this suitable for prepping MDF before applying Aqua Guard Satin?
No, we would advise using Zinsser Bulls eye 123 for priming MDF. You can then apply the top coat of Johnstones Aqua guard Satin.
can this go over old oil based paint, once the surface had be keyed
No, we would advise using Zinsser Bulls eye 123 or Zinsser Bin Primer.
