The Paint Shed recommends

Great for harsh conditions thanks to its tough, weather-resistant finish. Can even be applied in temperatures as low as 5 degrees celsius!

Zinsser Allcoat is a high performing mould resistant paint for exterior surfaces including wood, metal, masonry, cladding, plastic, and concrete. It can even be applied to previously painted surfaces without sanding, over glossy paints or those coated with bitumen, tar varnish or creosote. A highly durable paint thanks to its breathable, water shedding coating rich in biocides to protect against fungal degradation, it has an expected life span of up to 15 years.

Offering high levels of resistance against cracking, blistering, and flaking, it creates a tough coating that will withstand the toughest of weather conditions keeping its depth of colour and tough finish.

If you’re looking to add colour to exterior surfaces, you can’t go wrong with Zinsser Allcoat Exterior. A perfect garage door paint or front door paint, it is available in hundreds of tinted and matched colours including the popular RAL7016 Anthracite Grey. Also available in crisp white and classic black.

Preparation and Application

For best results, remove any existing mould or mildew and apply two coats using a brush, roller or spray. If spraying Zinsser Allcoat Solvent Based, we recommend that you thin first.

There is no need to prime before applying Allcoat as it is a self-priming paint. The first coat primes and seals the surface, providing a base for the top coat. The top coat completes the sealing process while providing additional moisture resistance and protection.

A quick and easy to apply exterior paint, it is touch dry and shower resistant after just one hour and is ready for a recoat after three hours.

Yes, you can apply Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin over previously painted surfaces without sanding, including glossy paints or those coated with bitumen, tar varnish or creosote.
Can I paint this on garden floor tiles around garden shed? If not which one can i use? Thanks

We wouldn't recommend Zinsser Allcoat for flooring as it's not designed to withstand footfall but we do recommend all of the paints in our Patio Paint category including Tikkurila Betolux Akva, Little Greene Intelligent Floor Paint and Teamac.

Can you use this on planed and sawn wood, bare or previously treated with ducksback? Do you need a fungicide if there has been green discolouration which has been cleaned off?
Yes, you can use Allcoat on planed, rough, bare and previously painted wood. Allcoat contains a biocide to protect the dried coating against fungal degradation so no separate treatment is required if the fungus/algae has been removed.
Can this be used on exterior UPVC?
Zinsser Allcoat is suitable for exterior UPVC windows and doors.
Can Zinsser Allcoat be used on patio slabs?

Zinsser Allcoat isn't designed for footfall so we wouldn't recommend applying it to patio slabs. A dedicated exterior floor paint would be best for this project like Blackfriar Anti-Slip Floor Paint.

What’s the difference between the solvent or water based version of Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin paint?
The only notable difference is that the solvent-based version of Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin can be applied at lower temperatures.
Can you use Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin on upvc doors?
Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin is ideal for painting uPVC doors and windows. Offering high levels of resistance against cracking, blistering, and flaking, it creates a tough coating that will withstand the toughest of weather conditions keeping its depth of colour and tough finish for up to 15 years.
Can I paint Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin on cast iron gutters?
Yes, Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin can be applied to cast iron gutters.
Is Zinsser or Superdec better for unpainted redwood garage doors?
Both products will provide a durable, opaque finish on redwood garage doors. Zinsser offers up to 15 years of protection whereas Sadolin Superdec provides up to 10 years so if low maintenance is important, again both products will provide this.
I have a Veranda with a metal sheet roof and I'm getting condensation drips on the inside on my furniture, do you have any paint to stop that?
We sell CooVar Anti-Condensation Paint but unfortunately, this isn't suitable for metal surfaces.
Is this paint breathable?
Yes, Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin Solvent Based is microporous.
Can this be used on an exterior epdm rubber roof?
We wouldn't recommend Zinsser Allcoat for EPDM rubber roofing.
Is Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin Solvent Based suitable to paint an un primed galvanised garage door?
No, The Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin Solvent Based is not suitable for galvanised door. You would have to prime the surface with a Zinsser primer or a Zinc phosphate primer.
Can I apply the solvent based Zinsser directly on top of previously stained wood which is coated with Sandolin Extra Durable Woodstain. The Sandolin stain is Ebony and I want to use a light colour of Zinsser. Is there a good primer you could recommend to allow me to block out the dark base colour of the Sandolin dark wood stain ? Thank you

Yes, You would have to prime the surface with a Zinsser Bulleye or Cover Stain before applying the Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin Solvent Based

How many windows and doors are there in the area you want to paint?

This is based on a coverage of 10m² per litre of paint and one coat of paint.

Make sure you always check the coverage on the product page before purchasing and, if covering a dark or bright colour, you may need two or three coats.
